Commission on the Status of Women
The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) acts in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors to: promote affirmative action, to eliminate the practice of discrimination and prejudice against women based on gender in the areas of housing, employment, education, community services, and related fields. It is comprised of 15 members who are appointed by the Board of Supervisors for a term of three years. All members represent the community at large and reside within Santa Clara County.
County Ordinance - In 1973, the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors approved Santa Clara County Ordinance code No. NS 300.183, thereby establishing the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).
Membership and Meeting Calendar - The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) hosts bi-monthly, public meetings on the second Monday of odd-numbered months at 6:30 PM at the County Government Center in the Isaac Newton Senter Auditorium, 70 W. Hedding Street, San Jose.

Women's Equality Day Event
On August 24th 2023, Commission on the Status of Women hosted the Women's Equality Day Luncheon Event, celebrating the progress made towards gender equality.
The event was a huge success, which included keynote speaker, CA State Controller Malia Cohen, a panel discussion on the CEDAW ordinance that was passed by the board of supervisors, and we were honored by attendance of over 50 elected officials.
