We are angered, hurt, and grieving alongside our AAPI community. In the face of the recent tragedy in Atlanta and resurgence of violence against AAPI communities, the DESJ stands in solidarity with our communities and allies in collective condemnation of racism, misogyny, classism, and white supremacy.
The Atlanta mass shooting was the targeting and murdering of Asian American women. To not acknowledge this is negligent and inaccurate. We urge the media and law enforcement to treat this as a hate crime and humanize the victims of these racist attacks. Anything less perpetuates the invisibility of AAPI communities.

Created to address a series of concerns brought forth by members of the public during Special Hearings on Immigration, Women, Hate Crimes, and Climate hearings in December 2016 and January 2017. The County has a commitment to our community which this Division attempts to address through the lens of equity and social justice issues, especially within the most marginalized communities.
